The basics
What is BAS Accounting Soft?
A Windows app for small businesses that does accounting, billing, POS, stock, khata (udhar), expenses, payroll and backups in one place. It is made by BAS Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Is it really free?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 forever and includes 1 company, sales and purchase invoices, party ledgers, expenses and local backup. Paid plans add POS, more users, payroll and more.
Which computers does it run on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs and laptops.
Is there a mobile app or a Mac version?
Not at the moment. BAS Accounting Soft is a Windows desktop app.
Is it an alternative to Vyapar?
Yes. It covers the same everyday needs (billing, stock, khata and reports) as a Windows desktop app with a free plan. Compare the features to see which fits your business.
Your data and backups
Where is my business data stored?
On your own computer. We do not see or read your accounting records.
Does it work without internet?
Yes for daily work. Internet is needed only for activation, updates, cloud and Google Drive backups, and WhatsApp messages.
How do backups work?
You can back up to your PC (checked for integrity), set automatic backups on a schedule, and back up to the cloud or your own Google Drive.
Can I use it on two computers at once?
Not live yet. Each installation works on one PC; you can move data with backup and restore. Live multi-device sync is planned.
Features
Does it have POS billing?
Yes: fast counter billing with search or SKU, discounts, change calculation and thermal receipts. POS is included from the Starter plan.
Can I track udhar (customer credit)?
Yes. There is an Outstanding tab, recovery entry, promise-to-pay dates, installment plans and WhatsApp payment reminders.
Does it calculate GST or sales tax?
Not yet. Tax rates can be defined, but automatic tax on invoices and tax reports are still being built.
What reports are included?
More than 17, including profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance, day book, cash flow, stock summary, receivable/payable ageing, and party and item-wise profit.
Can several staff members use it?
Yes. Multiple user logins, an audit trail of changes and approvals for sensitive edits are built in.
Does it do payroll?
Yes: employees, daily attendance with a monthly summary, and salary posting.
Can I import my existing data?
Yes. Parties, items and opening balances can be imported from CSV files.
